8 perbezaan menetap di United Kingdom dan Malaysia

6 bulan di United Kingdom, sedikit sebanyak ada beberapa perkara yang aku perasan berbeza dari Malaysia. Ini aku cakap tentang kehidupan general je berdasarkan pengalaman aku di UK, especially di Sheffield. Bukan pasal perbezaan belajar ke apa. Ok, here goes;

1. Pound dan Ringgit
Obviously.. First few months aku datang sini, aku asyik tersasul sebut ringgit dan sen je instead of pound and pence. Sungguh. Contohnya GBP 2.57, automatically akan sebut "dua ringgit, lima puluh tujuh sen".. Otak tak boleh cooperate. LOL. Lama-lama ok daa. Tapi kekadang saja mengada nak sebut ringgit dan sen jugak.. :p

2. Dua pili
Lagi-lagi masa aku datang hari tu, bulan September, so suhu average dalam 10-15 degree celcius kalau tak silap.

So, basuh tangan dengan air biasa macam basuh dengan ais, sampai sakit tangan. Basuh muka, kira macam dah tak payah pergi facial dah untuk dia tonyoh benda sejuk tu, basuh dengan air sejuk ni je cukup. -.-' So, my cousin suruh beli paip getah bentuk Y untuk campur air tu. Tak jumpa. Then, someone bagi idea untuk gunakan botol air mineral. Genius jugak. Maka terhasil laa ini..

3. Walking 2 kilometers a day is normal
Sepanjang aku dekat Sheffield ni, transport paling kerap digunakan hanyalah.... Kaki. Serius..

Tapi, ehem *clear throat*, kelas aku at most 3 hari je seminggu, selain tu aku terperap dalam rumah je.. Hehe

Maaf bebanyak. Bagi aku fikir seminggu dulu. Nope. Sebulan! Banyak kot RM 250 tu.. Menangis laa nak spend banyak tu untuk jaket sehelai je. Tapi, kat UK ni, RM 300 tu boleh dikira agak berpatutan laa. Sebab, kalau nak tahu, RM 250 boleh dikira hampir bersamaan GBP 50. Kira ok laa kan, belanja GBP 50 untuk satu item, lebih kurang macam kita belanja RM 50 kat Malaysia..

TAPI.... Yang aku tulis ni hanya applicable sekiranya perbelanjaan korang ditaja.. Hehe. Iye laa, kalau korang datang as a tourist, guna duit simpanan sendiri, harus laa kena berjimat cermat. Jadi, sama jugak nilainya.. Haha

5. "Thank you, love"
Kalau korang datang UK, tiba-tiba ada someone cakap kat korang,

"Alright, love."
"Here you go, love."

Bukan lah bermakna orang tu tengah mengorat korang tau. Mana laa tau kang terperasan orang tu tengah mengorat. Haha.. No. Tu memang budaya diorang kat sini. Lelaki dengan perempuan ke, perempuan dengan perempuan ke, selamba je diorang refer "love" to each other.

Tapi of course dalam kes yang aku cakapkan kat atas tu je laa.. Kalau memang diorang tengah bercinta, itu lain cerita. Lagi satu, budaya 'thank you' kat UK ni pun memang normal. Or, sometimes diorang gunakan "Cheers" instead of "Thank you". Same thing though.

6. You'll bring less cash and cards.

Hoho.

Cuma of course, kad debit tak boleh replace cash 100%.

7. Learn to cook.
Aku dah highlight tentang ni dalam post sebelum ni. Please refer to my previous post. Giteww.. :p

8. Volkswagen Passat, Mercedes Benz atau BMW sebagai teksi.
Gila?! Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW tu diorang jadikan teksi je kat sini. Haha.

Ok laa.. Walaupun ada banyak lagi aku nak kongsi sebenarnya tapi cukup laa kot 8 ni je setakat ini..
Jumpa lagi di lain entri.. :)

Envy. Cemburu.

Envy.
It happens when we think someone is 'better' than us.
And it happens to me. Often.

For example...

She is married to a handsome husband.
He got a Mini Cooper as birthday present.
He could quit job and go travel.
She went to a boarding school.
She is married at 23.
He is doing PhD at the age of 24.
She comes from a rich family.
She has abundant of shoes collection.
She could afford a Prada.
.
.
.
(and the list goes on)

But, hold on!

Where and what my life is lacking actually?

I have great parents.
I have a complete family.
I have beautiful, handsome and intelligent niece and nephew.
I have shoes to walk in.
I have enough money to buy covered cloth.
I eat plenty of delicious food everyday.

and most importantly,
I have ALLAH with me.

Enough. (before people think I start bragging about myself)

The conclusions are...
Never underestimate your own life.
Don't look at the rich, but look at the poor.
Then you will realize you have enough,
and sometimes more than what you need.

So, say Alhamdulillah, and smile.

Note: Materialistic. I know. :p

Re-schedule sleep cycle | Ubah kitaran waktu tidur

Assalamualaikum.. Hye..

Since past few days, I'm having difficulty to sleep at night. No! Not insomnia, because my sleep cycle was kinda normal.

I always went to bed at 12 with hope I could sleep early today, and wake up early tomorrow. But yeah there I am, looking at the ceiling and around the room.. I want to sleep and I've been trying for.. a week??? Gosh! I tried you know. I turned off the lights, comfort myself with comfortable duvet, drink warm milk, closed my eyes. Oh but one thing that is a bit difficult to do.. Not thinking.. It's just..... difficult.

Or perhaps.... that's the main reason to my problem?? Sigh -.-'

I keep telling myself every night, "Farah! Sleep!!!"

But I guess, I'm too stubborn even to myself.. huh.. My eyes just won't shut, my body won't rest, my mind won't stop thinking.. Then, I end up with texting my friends, play games, and... More thinking.. Lol.. Last night, even the ancient Minesweeper attracts my attention. Haha

But amazingly, I slept like a baby (perasan) when the sun starts to rise.. Amazing isn't it? But the ugly fact is, I'll wake up at noon.. Urghh.. I know, I know it's the normal me to wake up a lil' bit late (haha) in the morning, but I often sleep early though. And hello! People change ok.. That's why I'm trying to change my sleep cycle here, and reschedule it. I want to be a morning person again (?).

Help me, could you? I mean with suggestions how to sleep early at night, if you have one (or more). Thank you in advance.
